LAST GANG + NEW BASS PLAYER + ADELAIDE SHOW

Howdy

There’s a few things to talk about so…

Here we go.

US RELEASE OF SCIENCE AND SORCERY

Last week we finally got to announce that our second album, Science and Sorcery is coming out overseas through Canadian label Last Gang Records lastgangentertainment.com. They’ve put out some good stuff over the years like Death From Above 1979, Crystal Castles, Chromeo etc So we’re in good company and I feel good about them handling the release. Now I might be over thinking this a little, but I find it kind of funny that this record will be put out by the same label that did DFA 1979’s. I say “funny” because our first proper tour in Australia was with those guys in 2005 and with it being a tour that I look back on fairly fondly, because it was fun, it was our first, the guys were cool etc etc in a way it kind of feels like things have come full circle, kind of. Like I said, I might be over thinking it.

Anyway the deal has been in the works for a long while now so to finally have it all sorted is a major relief for us, because now we can looked forward to getting back overseas to play some shows and, more importantly concentrate on finishing the next album. It’s definitely an odd feeling for us though because the record is already a year old here and with us already well and truly onto the next one it feels a bit like going back in time to when the record was all fresh and new to us.

With this release it also gave us the opportunity to put another cover together. Now it wasn’t because we were dissatisfied with the original, we just felt like it would be cool to have two different covers and this was the perfect opportunity to make it happen. I remember buying imported copies of certain albums that I’d already bought in Australia and being excited about the variant covers that they would sometimes have. These days its seem less necessary to import albums that aren’t available in your home territory because its just as easy to just download it, so I guess this alternate cover is a bit of a homage that. Like all of our artwork to date this one has once again been developed by SPR/PPL. sprppl.com

New Bass Player

We haven’t really spoken much about this but, as some of you are aware, Tommy Mayhew left the band shortly after the release of Science and Sorcery. Since his departure we’ve had our friend Pat Saracino, who we borrowed from Adelaide band Like Leaves , help us by temporarily filling in on bass, which by the way, we are eternally grateful to him for, not only because he’s a fucking great musician but also because he was just such a good guy to be on tour with. From now however, I’m pleased to say, that our bass player from here on in, officially will be Wade Keighran formally of The Scare. I could go on and on about how excited we are about this but Wade already knows how we feel about him joining that band so I won’t try and justify our excitement any further. I will say this though, it was hard to see a future for the band when Tommy left but having Wade has made us rethink that outlook considerably.
