Howdy

Just a quick update to keep all of you informed on all the latest Wolf & Cub business; We’ve just completed the Vines tour and for all those that turned up to see us at the vines shows, Thank You so much for your support, it was a great tour to be apart of and we're very sorry to hear how things have developed for Craig since our last show together. Our support goes out to him and also to Brad, Hamish and Ryan in the coming months and we hope they'll be back touring again soon. You can actually view one of our performances from said tour here; we played a few new tracks as well as some of our trusted golden oldies. Hope you enjoy it!

In other news, you may or may not be aware that our new single has become available here, I've also just added it to our myspace playlist so have a listen. Its called Seven Sevens, and its been a favourite of mine for a while, it's a lot looser than our other stuff which I like, makes me feel good every time I listen to it and play it for that matter, so hopefully it feels good to you too. I think the motivation for this track and most of this record was to loosen things up a little, give the music some more space, loosen the tie so to speak. Ha. I don't know what I'm saying. I guess we also wanted to move forward from we're Vessels left off, listening to the record I'm confident that we've accomplished that, actually I'm certain we have. Anyway I'm rambling, lets leave it at that for now, more to come soon.
Take care, talk later.
-Joel

Oh also

We're very proud and very privileged to have been announced, as the support for TV on The Radio on their upcoming shows in January, that’s cool, isn't it?

Howdy

So The Vines tour starts tonight in Canberra and I have to say it feels good to be out of the studio for a little bit. We're busy rehearsing at the moment trying to put together a set which features some more of the new album, its fun playing some of the new tracks but a little scary because some of the tracks haven't been played live yet so we're not sure how they'll go down, plus we're not 100% confident with them yet so that doesn't help. I think its going to be a while before we can do these tracks justice in a live context, mostly because there is alot going on in the recorded versions, so we're going to have to get a little creative when it comes to touring the album. Speaking of the album, we're at that tricky mixing stage so I guess you can say we’re in the final stages, although this stage for me tends to feel like the beginning sometimes. I Love the mixing stage but it can get a bit tedious at times, because you can never get that perfect mix and it can feel like your chasing your tail after a while, ah the joys of making an album.

Anyhow back to rehearsals, hopefully see you at the shows. Take Care.

STUDIO DIARY 1

Studio Diary 1

Week two in the studio, is turning out to be not unlike week one but there a few subtle differences; its still freezing unfortunately, the mice are still around, but thankfully we're much more productive than last time we spoke. First week was spent in pre-production which involved Chris and I sorting through all the demos again and deciding which of those we dig and think deserve further attention and which ones are basically shit and deserve to be never heard again. I'd like to say it was a painless exercise but it wasn't, Chris is too blunt for me sometimes and as I tend to get a bit attached to all our demos it can be difficult to take criticism, especially when your producer tells you a demo, which you had high hopes for, isn't really that strong, or "just shit" as Chris discreetly puts it. What can I say demos are like your newborn; it can be hard to be told they're ugly. Anyhow once my eyes dried and I could be in the same room with Chris again we decided that about 13 of the demos were strong enough to work on. There are also a few new new ones that I've been developing during the tour period so they've been included in the maybe pile, although I think that's probably Chris' attempt at a peace offering.

So this week the rest of the band arrived and as soon they came to terms with the cold conditions, the mice and Chris Colonna we jumped straight into tracking. Right now Tommy, who plays bass, is laying down his parts, not without hassle though unfortunately. His bass seems to be playing up a bit and it's not responding the way it normally would so we've had to drive to Canberra for a minor repair, thankfully Canberra is only an hour away so it hasn't put too great a dent into the schedule. In the meantime however it's allowed new member, Marvin and I to go over some new songs and get him feeling comfy with the arrangements. Speaking about Marvin actually, he's under enormous pressure from everyone to step up to the plate and provide some backing vocals on this recording. It's turning out to be a bigger hurdle than anyone had counted on unfortunately as Marv has developed an insane insecurity complex which seems to be crippling his attempts to sing so fuck knows how we're going to get his angel like voice present on this album. Its very frustrating actually, because he can really sing and it would really add another element to the w&c palette, let alone make my job allot easier. I think alcohol is going to play a big part.

Take Care, photos coming very soon.
Love Joel
