QLD SHOWS THIS WEEKEND + ONE MOVEMENT LAST WEEK

ONE MOVEMENT FESTIVAL

Hey, Howdy

We’ve just come home, well not literally but last week some time, from Perth where we played the One Movement Festival. Now I’m quite sceptical at the best of times but more so when it comes to festivals of this nature, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this one, I kind of enjoyed it. Congratulations to the organisers because I think it was one of the better festivals we’ve played and I think I may have actually learned a few things. The show was great, much better than any of us were expecting actually, so thanks to all those that we there to enjoy it with us. Thanks also to Nathan Phillips for forwarding us some photos from the night. Here's a few pics and videos. Check them all out in the pics section on the myspace.

HEARTS TOUR

Yep we’re still on this thing and it comes to end this weekend in QLD. This Friday the 30th of October we’re in Brisbane at one of my favourite venues, The Zoo, then at the Coolangatta Hotel on the Gold Coast on the 31st, actually that’s Halloween isn’t it? Maybe we should dress up? We still have Vasco Era and DZ opening for us so get there early, I suspect it’s going to get a bit nutty.

ONE MOVEMENT THIS SUNDAY

One Movement set time changes, QLD Shows and Free show at Beach Road??
Howdy

Thanks to all those that came to our shows over the last couple of weeks in NSW and VIC. Good Vibes, DZ are my new favorite band, they are now our brothers. Heres some pics ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/30039375@N08/3997118528/ ) from the Melbourne show, courtesy of Calvin Cropley.

This week we're in Perth for the One Movement Festival (http://www.onemovementmusic.com/showcasefestival/Lineup), I feel good about this because I love being in Perth. I also like the idea of every band on this bill only getting a half an hour set, although, we're having some trouble squeezing our songs into such a short time frame.

For all those attending the event, we were originally scheduled to play on the Saturday, but have now been moved to the Sunday. We're playing at 7:05pm on the the Snowball stage, so don't say we didn't warn you. Its going to be kind of significant for us also because we're having a very special guest, and also a very good friend, come and with us for the first time.

Our 'Hearts' tour still has a few more shows left in QLD, tickets are going quickly so get that shit sorted. Details here (http://www.wolfandcub.com/tickets/ ) .

Also we've just announced a one off free show on November the 4th in Sydney at the Beach Road Hotel ( http://www.beachrdhotel.com.au/ ) in Bondi. Our Manager is a bondi beach bunny from way back and he never used to shut up about this place, so I'm kind of looking forward to this show, could get kind of nutty, I hope. See you there, what else is there to do on a Wednesday night? Honestly?

WOLF & CUB "HEARTS TOUR" STARTS THIS WEEK

Howdy, How are you?

Right the tour starts this week in Wollongong. We're just putting the final touches to the set as we speak and it seems like we’re feeling a little bit nostalgic as we've been contemplating playing some very old songs on this tour. Rehearsals have been pretty interesting because we haven’t played some of these songs in a loooooong time and we’ve kind of had to be re-introduced to each other. It’s a bit like meeting up with an old girlfriend, or boyfriend, and wondering why you loved her, him, so much.

Tickets for Sydney's Oxford Art Factory show and Melbourne are selling fast so do yourself, and us, a solid and get to it so we can all party like its 1999! Again. Also get to the shows early for DZ and then The Vasco Era, who we will be supporting us everywhere on the tour. Right on!

Talk soon.

US DIGITAL RELEASE

As of the 4th of August, um today, the new album Science and Sorcery will be available digitally for purchase in the US via emusic and Itunes. Also, the entire album can be heard on a few websites, like AOL Spinnerand Indie Rock Reviews, who have very generously set up listening parties in honour of the release. Right on!

In other news we're back home for a little bit, rehearsing some new material and preparing for another Australian tour that will be announced in the coming weeks. We're aiming to have the next record demoed by the end of the year, so far its looking likely that we can make it happen, judging by how quickly the new songs seem to be taking shape, so that feels pretty good.

FREE JJJ GIG AT THE GOV

Its not Goodbye, Its see you Later.

So the tour has finished, in most places we triumphed and in others we… well we had fun, but all in all it was probably the best tour we’ve had. A very warm thanks and our loving respect to all of you who came along and a very special thanks to some of you that managed to make it to more than one show, in some cases more than two, we’re very appreciative and hope we didn’t leave you disappointed.

Thank you very much to all the bands that opened for us along the way: Like Leaves in Adelaide, Cairos in QLD, Cabins in NSW, Pets With Pets in VIC AND Mink Mussel Creek in WA.

And of coarse to our touring brothers, The Scare, words will never be enough, thank you. This tour was cool for a number of reasons but an important ingredient was your company and consistently enjoyable performances, it wouldn’t have been nearly as enjoyable without you. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Kiss, Brock, Sam, Leham, Wade, Johnny, Kristian and Nick.
Take care, we love you, see you soon.

Free Show, FREE!

As you may know we will be playing a free live show at the Gov in Adelaide this Thursday the 16th with The Scare and Calling All Cars. It will be recorded by Triple J and later broadcast as a Live at The Wireless special. You may also know that tickets are available on a first come first served basis so if you want to come along you’re going to have to get there early probably at 6:30pm when doors open, but what you might not know is that we’ve managed to secure some tickets for fans so that they won’t have to line up early for a ticket, we’ve also managed to secure plus ones for those of you who manage to get one these tickets. Sooo if you don’t want to or can’t get down to the Gov early this Thursday and want a ticket to the show email us at info@wolfandcub.com and you and a plus one will get a ticket. There are only 20 available so get on to it. Unfortunately its only for over 18’s. If you miss out don’t sweat it though, just get down to the Gov anyway, its free and will sort of be the unofficial end of tour for the Scare and us.

Ok that’s it take care see you on Thursday.

JB.

Howdy

Here’s my update:

V FESTIVAL

Firstly, we’ve just finished playing the V Festival, which ended up being quite a lot of fun. Thanks to the on ground staff and V crew for looking after us so well, thanks also to everyone that took the time to come and see us play, I noticed we had a lot of competition so we appreciate the support.

Unfortunately it wasn’t all smooth sailing however. It seems that a mysterious stomach bug was roaming around the V camp taking out as many poor souls as it could, and unfortunately not even your humble narrator could be spared from the evil parasite’s debilitating curse. I got the bug pretty early on in the day and started suffering the effects soon after, so consequently, I was unable to perform at the final V festival in Perth. Now this is something I’m not especially proud of and I apologise profusely to anybody that was hoping to see us, but considering the circumstances, it really was the most likely of outcomes. Turns out that several others fell under the same spell later on in the day, including members of Children Collide, Tame Impala and of coarse those other poor souls in Wolf & Cub. Fortunately for them, symptoms didn’t develop two hours before they were scheduled to play, unlike good ol JB, who wasn’t so fortunate. Poor king KNUCKLEHEAD.

“So what about the show, BRO? Did the band have to cancel?” I hear you ask, well…

Our good friends and now, our comrades for life, from Tame Impala and Children Collide put their hands up for their brothers and joined the remaining members of Wolf & cub for a good old fashioned SPACE JAM. “YOWZA”, I hear you say, that sounds interesting, doesn’t it? Apparently it went quite well. To be honest though, I don’t really want to talk about it because I missed it and I’m still a bit dark about having to bail, but by all accounts it was quite magical. So thank you, thousand upon thousands of times to our brothers Kev, Dom, Jay & Johnny for the solid, much love & respect, you’ve earned your place in the kingdom of heaven. Seriously THANK YOU. This elephant will never forget.

* Actually if anyone has any footage of this performance could you send it on to us via the myspace or something, as I’d really like to see how it went. Ta.
